Al Kachir for Bangladesh to the Oscars

Al Kachir Brings the Oscars to Bangladesh
My friend Al Kachir, whom I met years ago during the Cannes Film Festival, is about to do something truly special.
Al is a journalist and television presenter in Bangladesh, and this year he will become the first journalist from his country to cover the Oscars from the inside.
Until now, the Academy Awards reached Bangladesh only through news agencies: delayed footage, quotes picked up from foreign media, second-hand stories. That is about to change.
On March 16, Al Kachir will be in Los Angeles with official accreditation from the Academy. Not as a guest, but simply doing his job — working in the press room, conducting interviews, and asking questions directly to Oscar winners.
“Normally we report on the Oscars through news agencies. Being there in person feels almost unreal,” he says.
Over the past few years, Al Kachir has made remarkable progress. He has already covered film festivals in Cannes, Tokyo, Shanghai, Saudi Arabia and Nepal. Now he is heading to the biggest film event in the world.
A great moment for Bangladesh — and thoroughly deserved for Al Kachir. Congratulations!
