Murder in Monaco
Ted Maher-Edmond Safra-oligarchen
Ted Maher – Edmond Safra – Monaco
In 2004, I wrote a story in my travel guide about the nurse/soldier Ted Maher in connection with the death of the immensely wealthy banker Edmond Safra. Even then, there were strange relationships and possible involvement of Russian oligarchs. Most intriguing and dubious, however, is the role of Safra’s wife, Lily, who—after four marriages—rose as a kind of black widow to become one of the richest women in the world. A documentary about this affair has just been released on Netflix and is well worth watching. The friendship between Prince Albert and Putin is also clearly portrayed. It offers a revealing insight into how far the power of big money reaches. Highly recommended for anyone who still believes in the fairy tales of Monaco.
